Who are Co-You?

Co-You is a green mission driven start up creating technology to capture CO2 and recycle it.

Where are Co-You based?

Co-You lab and manufacturing is based in London.

What is carbon capture?

It is a technology process that removes greenhouse gases (CO2) from the environment.

How long will the panels be installed for?

The panels will be installed for a 3 month trial period.

What happens to the panels at the end of the 3 months?

90% of the panels can be recycled to make new CO2 absorbing panels. 10% will be repurposed.

Is the CO2 released back into the atmosphere if the panels are recycled?

CO2 is not released back into the atmosphere once it is captured in the panels.

Why have you installed carbon capture panels at Bristol Temple Meads station?

Climate Change is increasingly a crucial challenge with CO2 emissions contributing to global warming. Diesel trains emit CO2.

What does the message "I eat carbon" mean on the panels?

It is a green branding message developed by Co-You to communicate the trial to a wide audience.

How much CO2 does each panel absorb?

Each panel absorbs an equal rate of CO2 to a 20 year old tree.

How long does a panel take to fill up with CO2?

The panels can be designed to absorb CO2 at different rates. The higher the CO2 concentration in the air the faster it will fill up.

Why do the panels change colour?

To help visualise the CO2 absorption, the panels changes colour from blue to white, signalling decarbonisation.

Who are the project partners?

Connected Places Catapult, Network Rail, GWR, Taziker, Costain Plc.

How do I find out more about the project partners?

Click on weblinks provided. (https://www.gwr.com/) (https://taziker.com/) (https://www.costain.com/) (https://www.co-you.co.uk/)

Can the panels be made bigger?

The technology is modular and so can be scaled to many sizes, including a full platform or building.

How much does a panel cost?

It is low cost compared to other carbon capture technology which have high capital costs. Please contact Co-You at the following email for more details.

Can the panels be used in locations other than in train stations?

Yes the panels will absorb CO2 wherever they are placed. The higher the concentration of CO2 the faster the panels will absorb. Other examples include homes, office buildings, bus stations, petrol stations, congested roads etc.
